THE BUCKET LIST

So my workout partner and i were on our way home one night recently, and places we would like to see before we die came up. She had all sorts of cool "bucket ideas" {see italy} and i really didn't have any ideas. then i was talking to bridget over our sunis lunch on monday, and she too had cool bucket list ideas. So here goes..Please make no judgments, remember this list is my list and yours will probably have completely different things on it. All the things aren't really significant or daring, just things i think i might want to do someday. I would love for you to post a bucket list of your own! Can't wait to see what you came up with!
So here is a small sampling.
written by torrie age 30.

  • visit Jamaica
  • go on a cruise with my husband
  • do the columbia tower fireman's climb
  • have a prom
  • walk the 3 day breast cancer walk in honor of my grandma
  • try skiing {it's cold in the mountains, so this would be a real challenge for me}
  • meet and stay at my healthy goal weight
  • own a ranch in montana, with a custom built house designed by us.
  • take a college photography class
  • get a massage
  • go on a zip line
  • learn to play an instrument
  • discover my talent i was blessed with
  • try a spinning class
  • see an Oprah show
  • have a nose job
  • learn to swim
  • take all 5 of my kids to Disney World and the Bahamas
  • wear a 2 piece
  • take my grand kids to Disneyland
  • go white water rafting {i'm afraid of the water}

my list will get longer and i didn't add every thing {as not to bore you too much} and maybe your list will have something that i haven't thought of yet! so think about it... what's on your Bucket List.

365

When chastin was a baby i wanted to take one picture of him every day.
i didn't do it. it was the days of film.
every picture would have to be developed.
so when true came, and i had a few digital cameras around
i thought- why not?
from jan. 12,09- jan 12,10 i have taken a picture every day of him.
{i missed a total of 5 days}
so again, i thought, it wasn't that hard, why not do a picture for every day
of my every day life?
so it begins.
for me, a project, something to do just for myself.
a 365.

January 12th 2010

a first birthday celebrated
vanilla cupcakes w/homemade frosting

he was fascinated by the candle & the {off key} singing

he touched it, then set it down,
to sticky for him to hold...

going back for more,
every once in a while he would stop and look around...
maybe to see what we were laughing at
{you would have thought the paparazzi was there}

the day was great!
he was so cute!
the crowd was laughing so hard as
we watched him enjoy his first very own cupcake ever!
we were so glad to have the family come on over
& the schippers {who have seen him every day of his life}
and share this very special day with us

i can't believe he is one!

saving money in 2010

So what are your plans for 2010?
For the Barnes home we plan to spend less and save more.

Last year we did the same- it's not really a resolution, just a good time to reevaluate. In '09 we-

  • started to share a cell phone plan with John's parents
  • share our garbage service and split the bill,
  • we signed up for netflix to avoid all the Hollywood video late fees and unwatched movies.
  • ate out about twice a month
  • knock off the coffee shop stops
  • cancelled magazine subs
  • use no credit cards
  • make birthday cakes- not buy

Now for 2010 we have in mind

  • canceling netflix
  • maybe sharing out garbage can with a third neighbor
  • compost and grow more, longer
  • cut out that 2x a month eating out {maybe 1x}
  • drive less, carpool more = less gas
  • maybe find a side job for me
  • unplug and turn things off more
  • drop our heat down by a degree or two, and hour earlier

So what are your ideas? What do you do that you would like to share? I'd love to know!
